Family Lawyers in Singapore
Divorce, children, maintenance and the division of what a marriage built. These are difficult things to be dealing with and harder still to be guessing at. We are usually happy to have that first conversation at no charge, and you will come away from it knowing where you actually stand.

Costs
What it costs
Not knowing is its own kind of stress, so here is the shape of it. An uncontested divorce is a fixed fee from S$2,000. A contested matter depends on what is actually in dispute, and we give you a written estimate after the first consultation rather than a number now that would only be a guess.
An initial conversation is usually free of charge either way, and nothing begins until the quote is agreed in writing.

Questions
Common questions
What happens in the first consultation?
You tell us the situation and we tell you where you stand: what is likely to be straightforward, what is likely to be disputed, roughly how long it takes and what it is likely to cost. That first conversation is usually free of charge and there is no obligation afterwards.
If your situation is simple enough that you do not need a lawyer, we will say so.
Do I need my spouse to agree before I do anything?
No. Taking advice is not a step against anybody, and understanding your position before a conversation usually makes that conversation go better rather than worse.
How long does a divorce take?
An uncontested divorce where everything is agreed moves through in a matter of months. A contested one depends entirely on what is in dispute and how far it runs. We will give you a realistic range once we know which you are looking at, rather than an optimistic one.
Will this end up in court?
Most matters do not go to a full hearing. Many that begin contested settle once both sides have proper advice about what a court would be likely to do. Where a hearing is genuinely necessary we will tell you, and prepare for it properly.
